Why this postgraduate course?
The postgraduate course in Bioclimatic Architecture and Certifications: LEED, BREEAM, PASSIVHAUS and CTE is done in person in Barcelona, but also offers the possibility of being completed online by students who prefer it.

Globally, buildings are responsible for more than 33% of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and 40% of raw material consumption. Both energy efficiency and corporate social and environmental responsibility are some of the catalysts that are transforming the international real estate market at this time.

Investors and developers have incorporated this sensitivity, not only for compliance with increasingly demanding regulations, but also because the economic and environmental benefits are quantifiable in terms of investment, demand and valuation of assets. Currently, investing in a green building or applying for it as a user is part of the strategy of many building promoters.

This postgraduate course offers a comprehensive introduction to sustainable urban planning practices, green buildings, energy efficiency, passive and active solar strategies, renewable energy, NZEB, as well as three of the most widely used certifications for green buildings around the world.

In the international market, there are more and more needs of professionals with a good training in the field of evaluation and certifications for high performance buildings.

The postgraduate course will allow you not only to rethink the building and its impact on the environment, but also to improve your skills and your professional future, preparing you for the new challenges ahead. All our speakers are accredited professionals working on each of the subjects they teach. The vision of the course is professional. We intend to give you the specialisation that will open different job opportunities.

It is increasingly essential:

  • Have computer tools to design the ideal architectural solutions.
  • Obtain certifications that guarantee the sustainability of buildings.
  • Evaluate both the energy consumed in the construction process and that used during the operation of the building.

Consult us the possibility of doing internships in high level companies and application exercises where real cases are simulated.

We train students to pass the LEED exams and become accredited professionals.

Aims

The main purpose of the activity is to contribute and strengthen the technical skills of professionals in a sector that clearly moves in the direction of savings and energy efficiency. Under this premise, the following general objectives are included:

  • To train energy performance technicians who will manage energy audits and certifications. At the same time, enhance the possibility of a specific and highly demanded job now and in the future.
  • Become familiar with the parameterization, analysis, comparison, calculation and application of the results in real life.
  • Clarify the theoretical aspects through direct practical application, auditing and studying specific projects of Spanish energy certification, LEED certification, PassivHaus and BREEAM.
  • Strengthen the ability to handle a large number of technical aspects and data that are considered in all phases of the project.
  • To have full control of the architectural project from the pre design phases to its conclusion.
  • Energy references, "Benchmark" and energy reports.
  • Use the certification references (LEED, Passive House, BREEAM) to evaluate and propose improvements in the projects, which make them much more efficient and respectful with the environment.
  • Know and handle different bio-environmental design strategies. Design with the weather and the sun.
  • Incorporate active and passive design strategies. Understand the operation and application of different renewable energies.
  • Study Sustainable Urbanism and how to generate healthier communities.
  • Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB).
  • Train technicians capable of designing or working with passive buildings and their certification (PASSIVHAUS).
  • Understand and apply the Spanish Energy Certification (CTE) and its different IT tools.
  • Acquire new skills that will be essential in project teams, competitions, research groups and even in leadership tasks.
  • Promote the exchange of knowledge among multidisciplinary groups from different sectors.
  • Training and training for the LEED GREEN ASSOCIATE and LEED AP exams organized by the Green Building Council.
Who is it for?
  • Architects.
  • Building Engineers and Technical Architects.
  • Engineers and technical engineers of various specialties.
  • Students of the last courses of these degrees.
  • Professionals from the productive sectors of construction, industry, economy, energy and sustainability.
