This postgraduate course can be attended as part of the master's degree Architectural Structures Engineering.

Este programa de postgrado consta de tres partes: Las estructuras de acero, de hormigón y la mecánica del suelo. La primera basada en las Estructuras de acero, se centra en desarrollar extensamente los conocimientos en diseño y análisis específicos de las estructuras de acero a través de conocer las diferentes tipologías, del cálculo de estructuras metálicas, de las uniones y la o la modelización con programas de cálculo específicos como ROBOT, TECLA, POWERFRAME.

La segunda parte, basada en las Estructuras de hormigón a través de conocer las diferentes tipologías, de las Estructuras postesadas, del cálculo de estructuras de hormigón y la modelización con programas de cálculo específicos como ROBOT, SAP, CYPE, Tricalc.

Y la tercera parte, se centra en desarrollar extensamente los conocimientos en diseño y cálculo de cimentaciones y elementos de contención, como del estudio geotécnico y la modelización con programas de cálculo específicos: SAP, ROBOT, CYPE, PLAXIS.

El plan de estudios se ha elaborado en base a las experiencias realizadas por el equipo docente en cursos anteriores, tanto a nivel universitario como a nivel profesional, y que sirven de referencia para la propuesta de este programa y con el apoyo de la ACE (Asociación de Consultores de Estructuras) y el IEE (Instituto de Estudios Estructurales), principales instituciones del sector.

Expertise in structural analysis software: SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, CSiBridge, Perform 3D, CSiCol, among others. Founder and principal engineer at DISEÑO DE PROYECTOS EN INGENIERÍA (Perú). Representative of CSI (Computers & Structures, Inc.) for South America and Caribe. Wide teaching experience in professional courses for civil engineers and architects. Most remarkable designs: 520 m long railway cable-stayed bridge in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), arch bridges in Puyo (Ecuador) and Moquegua (Perú), among others.

Supervisor of 12 Doctoral Theses. Participation and coordination in a number of Research Projects funded by European Commission. Over 150 publications, most of them papers published in international peer reviewed Journals. Geotechnical advisor of several companies and administrations, in Spain and other European and American countries, involving large excavations, urban tunnels and embankment dams. Active member of the International Committee controlling construction of high-speed train tunnel crossing Barcelona next to World¿s Heritage buildings.

To obtain this degree it is necessary to have an official or recognized university degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree or diploma. Otherwise, the Fundació Politècnica de Catalunya will only award them a a certificate of completion.
