Aims

The modeling exercises guide the learner through the process of building a working simulation; students will not only learn about the issues addressed, and in the use of state of the art simulation software, but will develop skill in the modeling process.

Who is it for

The content of this course can be applied in many areas. In the business world, these topics are mainly used to address issues related to Strategic Planning, Business Planning, Leadership Development, Strategic Marketing and Sales, Organization Redesign, Process Improvement, Implementation of operational plans. In general to build and sustain high performance over the long term, and ensure successful implementation of changes.
In the academic world, these topics may be used to develop Final Projects or Doctorate, theses on diverse subjects

Director of a management consulting firm that develops strategic plans for corporate executives using System Dynamics based simulation models. Collaborator of the Sustainable Development Department at Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, and several other Spanish and Latin-American universities. Author of books about modeling with System Dynamics, with preface of John Sterman (MIT).

  • Martín Méndez, Pamela
    Bachelor of Architecture in the URL. Collaborate in the architectural firm L35 since 2007. Training System Dynamics (2003) at the UPC. He has taught courses in System Dynamics companies: Petrobras Energy Management Safety and hygiene (2006), Strategic Projects General Subdirectorate CIEMAT (2006), National Confederation of Electricidad de México (2005), and has been a speaker at conferences organized by National Institute of fiscal Studies of Biology (2005), Universidad Autónoma de México (2005) on this topic.

Degree
Lifelong learning diploma issued by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. To obtain this degree it is necessary to have an official or recognized university degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree or diploma. Otherwise, the Fundació Politècnica de Catalunya will only award them a a certificate of completion.

Tutorial and Documentation
Each student begins the course and is coached independently, on his own schedule. The student can decide how fast to work.

Student will receive the book "System Dynamics - Exercises" ISBN 84 609 9804 5 which contain some of the exercises included in the course
