This postgraduate course can be attended as part of the master's degree Parametric Design in Architecture.

Parametric design is based on the creation of algorithms that make the most of a set of "initial data", i.e. the parameters. This postgraduate course will provide students with the necessary skills to be able to establish the parameters for consideration in a given design, and how to generate an optimized algorithm to manipulate them.

Optimization, functionality and synergy of the properties are what are meant by the expression "performative". But this not only a lexicographical aspect - it is a new way of designing.

"Parametric Design and BIM" gives competences to use the power of BIM (database design), with the ability to generate those databases and manipulate them using parametric algorithms. The student obtains a double result: globalization and optimization of the task of designing.

Meanwhile, parametric design has by no means meant the end of geometric design. It is necessary to perform well in all fields of architecture, and in the executive phase, this performance must also be related to technology. "Algorithmics in Technology in Architecture" will use parametric design applied to construction, analysis of structures and installation, conditioning and services, providing students with new skills than cannot be acquired in the traditional teaching of these subjects.

The same principle is true of "Parametric Design in Planning and Landscape". In this case it is urban planning, in all its aspects, which gives the student these new skills.

Finally, it will come as no surprise that "Studio 2. Post-production and Building" will be the point of convergence for all the learning acquired, in a comprehensive architectural design and a series of small format mini-workshops, included in the workshop itself.   The student will present the knowledge acquired in the other subjects. In all these exercises, the final result will be optimized, and better than the design which has been used to create a new item or the new properties in various architectural elements.

At the end of this second postgraduate course, the students will be able to offer skills in handling applied parametric tools in architectural design in all its aspects. These skills would have been difficult to obtain on independent courses simply based on the use of parametric software and hardware.

Graduates in architecture, building engineers, quantity surveyors and/or surveyors, industrial engineers in various fields, civil engineers, and technical engineers of public works.

Professionals including consultants, planners and interior designers who have skills in the field of architectural design, building or urban planning, and other professionals wishing to refocus or supplement their skills or begin their own business project.
