Academic management

  • Tort-Martorell Llabrés, Xavier
    Doctorate degree in Industrial Engineering from the UPC and a Master's degree in Industrial Statistics from the University of Wisconsin (USA). Director of the Department of Statistics and Operational Research at the UPC. Previously he worked for the SISTECAL and Roland consulting firms as Manager of the quality area. He is the president of European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics (ENBIS), has been a member of the Model Review Group of the EFQM and was also a judge for quality awards given out by the Catalonian Government. He is the co-author of two books and numerous articles in specialised magazines. He is the director of the Master's programme in Quality Control and the postgraduate programme in Six Sigma Improvement at the UPC.

  • Grima Cintas, Pere
    Doctorate degree in Industrial Engineering. Head Professor of the Department of Statistics and Operational Research at the UPC. After his first professional experience in the industrial sector he joined the UPC where he has combined teaching with participation in University/Company collaborations in areas related to quality control. He is the author of numerous articles and talks as well as being the co-author of books about methodologies for quality. He has worked as an evaluator for the EFQM's European Quality Award.

    Industrial Engineer. Postgraduate degree in Economic and Financial Management (UPC) and a Master's degree in Business & e-Technology (La Salle). Currently he is a consulting member in Lean processes, consulting specialising in process based management and Lean Management. Previously he worked for over fifteen years at HP in positions such as service delivery manager, internal consultant for process improvement and director of quality.
  • Gil Vilda, Francisco
    Industrial Engineer. Over 15 years¿ professional experience with responsibilities in operations (Valeo, Hewlett-Packard, Grifols). Currently a consultant partner in Leanbox, specialised in Lean Management training and consulting for industrial and services companies.

    Doctor Industrial Engineer. Professor in the Department of Statistics and Operational Research at the UPC. Expert in statistical techniques for quality control and improvement. He has participated in the design and teaching of the courses in Six Sigma given at the UPC. One of his areas of specialisation is applying quantitative techniques to determine the latent needs and expectations of clients.

    Doctora holder in Statistical Sciences and Techniques from the UPC and professor in the Department of Statistics and Operational Research at the UPC. She also teaches classes at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Industrial de Barcelona. One of her areas of specialisation is statistical techniques for quality control and improvement. Since 2003 she has participated as a professor in the Master's programme in Quality Control at the UPC and for courses in Six Sigma Improvement Programmes.
