Date: 16-04-2015
Timetable: 6:45 pm to 9:00 pm
Location: ETSAB - Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona (Av. Diagonal 649-651, Barcelona)

The Open Talent session "BIMNESS: Creating new BIM business and innovation models" will take place in the Sala d'Actes of the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB), on Thursday 16 April 2015 at 6.45 pm.

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a transformational change for the construction sector: it provides new tools that change the value of the product offered, it entails changes in communication channels, the resources needed, access channels to clients, and relationships with partners.

This Open Talent will be a presentation based on three real projects about how BIM Management has revolutionized the construction industry and work and innovation processes, and how it has created new opportunities for the development of new business models.

The success of the first postgraduate course in BIM Management. Building Information Modelling at the UPC School has led to real projects with BIM application, like those that we will see in the Open Talent session, which will be the focus of an interesting debate and reflection on the process of transformation taking place in the sector.

The 3 BIM projects that will be presented at the event are:

1. BIM integration: Innovation and improved project execution. An ITEC case study.

  • Authors: Jonathan García and Àlex Inglés.
  • Description: A simulation of the integration of ITEC databases in a BIM project. This multi-platform project demonstrates the ability of BIM to help in decision-making and is based on innovation and applied to the business of today.

2. BIM – GPO: Sustainable design and energy saving. Innovation and business.

  • Author: Carolina Jarreta
  • Description: This is a BIM multi-platform project that includes sustainable design, energy saving and is aligned with improved business results. Undertaken in collaboration with GPO, an engineering group with a global presence in the infrastructure, construction, energy, environmental and automotion sectors.

3. The startup Dobim: entrepreneurship and BIM. New career paths.

  • Authors: Javier Campos and Eva Roense
  • Description: Dobim is a start-up that emerged from the UPC School's first postgraduate course in BIM Management. It is an example of professional reinvention and the new business and work model associated with BIM: providing multi-platform services with collaborative methods.

After the presentations, there will be an open discussionamong those attending the event and the students who completed the three projects.

This event is open and admission is free. To attend this event, please confirm your attendance using the "I WILL ATTEND" form below. Limited places available.
