The use of colour management standards is essential in digitization processes to ensure a certain degree of fidelity, although this is not the only aspect of image processing involved in colour reproduction.

Colour negatives, which require specific adjustments to extract the mask and the reverse the colour, are particularly sensitive. In these projects, it is necessary to consider the optimal level of processing, based on the characteristics of the original material, while bearing in mind parameters that were not always objective in analogue printing processes.
