Date: 30-09-2021
Timetable: 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Location: Online

An Open Class is to be held at 07:00 PM on thursday 30-09-2021 on Postgraduate in Quantum Engineering (Online) and Postgraduate in Quantum Engineering (Face-to-face).

Quantum information science aims at understanding how we can process and transmit information when encoded on quantum particles. It is now well-understood that new technological applications, such as more powerful computers or novel forms of cryptography, become possible thanks to quantum phenomena. The talk presents an overview of the field, by presenting its current status and the scientific and technological challenges that need to be addressed.

This open class will be held in English.

The speaker

Antonio Acín. ICREA (Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies) Research Professor at ICFO - The Institute of Photonic Sciences.

Degree in Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and in Telecommunication Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). PhD in Theoretical Physics in 2001 from the UB. Post-doc in Geneva until 2003. Since 2003, leader of the Quantum Information Theory group. 4 grants from the European Research Council: 1 Starting, 1 Proof of Concept, 1 Consolidator and 1 Advanced Grant, the latter starting in 2020. AXA Chair in Quantum Information Science in 2016.

The session will take place on-line using Google Meet.

As well, you can follow the Open Class using your mobile device by downloading the corresponding Google Meet application for your Android or iOS.

This event is open and free. To attend, please confirm using the "I Will attend". Limited places.
