Why this programme?

Building integral management (real estate and facility services) is becoming an area of vital importance for companies, as it allows optimizing the profitability of real estate assets and infrastructure, reducing the costs of maintenance and conservation in the operation phase, in addition to offering more competitive and appropriate facility services to its core business.

The diversity of activities included in the management of building conservation and facilities maintenance requires professionalism of the people in charge of this functional area of the companies, currently acting in a way of self-study and lacking methodology.

The professionalization of these activities has given way to what is known internationally as Facility Manager. This professional encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment, consisting of people, processes and technology. Its objective is to guarantee the maximum performance of the assets and the satisfaction of the clients towards the support services offered. In addition, the preservation of real estate assets, their maintenance and the management of these facility services must be developed under criteria of sustainability and energy efficiency, in commitment with the rest of the society. Therefore, it is a profile with an increasing demand for professionals.

Postgraduate in Control of Facility Management Services is considered as a specialisation course that allows students to gain control over management skills, focusing on the economic aspects and the applied technological applications. Therefore, it is aimed at professionals in the sector that want to improve their competencies in these areas.

To enrol in this Postgraduate, it is essential to have previously completed the postgraduate in Facility Management Services.



Aims

To provide students with learning opportunities that will allow them to apply methodologies to control the management of Facility Services and their economics through the use of current Information Systems and Technologies. To do this, at the end of the course, the student must be able to:

  • Implement a Facility Management model in an organization.
  • Interpret the organization's balance sheet and results statement and calculate the main financial ratios for the economic control of the management of real estate and support services of an organization.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets for the management of real estate and support services of an organization.
  • Evaluate investments in assets, both real estate and equipment, in an organization, and calculate their amortization.
  • Implement a control system for the management of real estate and support services in an organization.
  • Compare and choose Systems and Information Technology for Facility Management in an organization.

Degree
Postgraduate diplomas issued by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Issued pursuant to art. 34.1 of Organic Law 4/2007 of 12 April, amending Organic Law 6/2001 of 21 December, concerning Universities. To obtain this degree it is necessary to have an official. Otherwise, the Fundació Politècnica de Catalunya will only award them a a certificate of completion.

Learning methodology

The teaching methodology of the programme facilitates the student's learning and the achievement of the necessary competences.

Learning tools
Practical classroom sessions
Knowledge is applied to a real or hypothetical environment, where specific aspects are identified and worked on to facilitate understanding, with the support from teaching staff.
Solving exercises
Solutions are worked on by practising routines, applying formulas and algorithms, and procedures are followed for transforming the available information and interpreting the results.
Case studies
Real or hypothetical situations are presented in which the students, in a completely participatory and practical way, examine the situation, consider the various hypotheses and share their own conclusions.
Success stories
Outstanding business knowledge and experiences with high added value acquired during an outstanding professional career are presented and shared.
Visits
These visits are to specialist centres, companies in the sector or outstanding and important locations in the sector, in order to obtain knowledge in situ of development, production and demonstration environments within the programme.
Assessment criteria
Attendance
At least 80% attendance of teaching hours is required.
Work out projects
Studies on a specific topic, by individuals or groups, in which the quality and depth of the work is assessed, among other factors.
Work placements & employment service
Students can access job offers in their field of specialisation on the My_Tech_Space virtual campus. Applications made from this site will be treated confidentially. Hundreds of offers of the UPC School of Professional & Executive Development employment service appear annually. The offers range from formal contracts to work placement agreements.
Virtual campus
The students on this postgraduate course will have access to the My_Tech_Space virtual campus, an effective work and communication platform for students, lecturers and course directors and coordinators. My_Tech_Space allows students to find background material for their classes, to work in teams, ask their lecturers questions, consult their marks, etc.

He has accumulated an experience of more than 30 years in services, teaching, hospital and pharmaceutical companies (FCC, UPC, Hospital Son Dureta, IPSEN PHARMA, ACCIONA), the last 30 in jobs that can be assimilated to the Facility Manager.

    Degree in Industrial Technical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. General Management Programme, IESE. President of the buildings committee of the Spanish Maintenance Association (AEM), and a member of the board of directors of the Catalan Facility Management Association (ACFM). He has accumulated more than 25 years of experience in the Commissioning and Facility Management sector.
  • Rodriguez Seijo, Juan Manuel
    Industrial Engineer from the UPM. PDD from IESE. MBA from the UB. Master in Facility Management from La Salle (URLL). Master in PRL from the UPC. He is currently the founder and CEO of Carpire Solutions, a comprehensive consulting company at Facility Management. He accumulates an experience of more than 25 years in the field of Facility Management, in strategic consulting and in departmental and operational management, developed in both public and private organizations. Founding member of the ACFM and IFMA partner, awarded for the best professional article in 2010 and 2013.

    Industrial Engineer from the UPC. Consultant and business consultant in aspects related to the Management of Real Estate Assets and FM in CARPIRE Solutions. Member of the RE & FM Expertise Group, Founding member of SEFM (currently IFMA-Spain) and founder member of ACFM.
  • Sistach i Manén, Marc
    Industrial engineer at the UPC. PDD for ESADE, Master in Marketing Management for ISM and Postgraduate Diploma in Smart Cities by the UOC. Corporate Facility Director at CIRSA. Previously, he had been the Director of Exploitation at URBICSA, concessionaire of the City of Justice of Barcelona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Director of Operations at AGBAR. He was the General Coordinator of the facility management work group of the Association / College of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia and President of the Catalan Association of Facility Management.
  • Trisan Segui, Francesc
    Enginyer industrial per la UPC. Postgrau en Manteniment per la UPC. Gestió de facilitats de l¿Acadèmia de Bronze per part de Johnson Controls. Membre fundador de l'ACFM (Associació Catalana de Facility Management) i també és membre de l'equip de treball del Col·legi d'Enginyers Industrials. Acumula més de 15 anys d'experiència en el sector de Facility Management, treballant en líders industrials multinacionals com Johnson Controls i CBRE. Actualment desenvolupa una posició global a CBRE com a implementació de processos de gestió de FM (Global Business Process Lead).

How to start admission
To start the enrolment process for this programme you must complete and send the form that you will find at the bottom of these lines.

Next you will receive a welcome email detailing the three steps necessary to formalize the enrolment procedure:

2. Validate your curriculum vitae and attach any additional required documentation, whenever this is necessary for admission.

3. Pay €110 in concept of the registration fee for the programme. This fee will be discounted from the total enrolment fee and will only be returned when a student isn't admitted on a programme.
