Why this programme?
IT departments’ interest in Agility has become widespread, and more and more companies consider organisational agility to be essential to their strategies. Indicators of this shift are the conversations on the subject among members of departments and the heavy demand for experts in methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, Lean and DevOps in the job profiles that companies are seeking.

Organisations are seeking Agility for greater efficiency, capacity for innovation and time-to-market. We can also see that the majority of companies have incorporated Agile or intend to do so (the increase has been 100% in the past 4 years). Likewise, we find that 87% of companies that have used Agility state that it has improved the profits from their projects.

To date, Agility initiatives have usually been introduced in ICT departments in an isolated fashion or out of personal initiative. Some have paved the way for Scrum project management, or operations with Kanban or Lean IT, with uneven results. This programme provides a comprehensive, practical view of the different options for applying Agility to software development, infrastructure management and ICT services for users.

The practice and applicability of the information imparted are the priority in this programme. The majority of classes in the programme are workshops or practices, and the theory is mostly learned online, following the pedagogical model of the flipped classroom.

The professionals interested in the course should primarily be developers, system administrators, service desk workers and ICT heads interested in learning more details about Agile Methodologies.

The post-graduate programme in Agile IT Management provides a comprehensive, practical overview of the agile management of ICT departments and projects, including contents from three different disciplines – Scrum, DevOps and Lean IT – in order to apply them directly in cases and practical examples.
Aims
  • To understand, evaluate and improve the functioning of an agile organisation in terms of planning and managing the demand, projects and operations.
  • To thoroughly learn and practically use the Scrum framework in both ICT and other kinds of projects (e.g., business or hardware).
  • To apply agile practices like estimates, definition and management of requirements or testing.
  • To learn about the DevOps (Development + Operations) movement and to gain an in-depth understanding of its necessary agile practices such as continuous integration, continuous deployment and infrastructure management.
  • To be capable of implementing the most common DevOps tools like Jenkins, Ansible, Vagrant, Docker, Kubernetes and Sonar, or cloud environments like Amazon Web Services.
  • To identify problems and their causes and to define solutions using techniques aimed at planning and carrying out improvements in ICT services.
  • To become familiar with Lean IT and continuous improvement, and to practice Lean tools like and Lego Game, Value Stream Mapping and A3 Diagramming.
Who is it for?
  • Graduates in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications and Engineering.
  • Software developers, systems administrators and Service Desk technicians.
  • Heads of IT Services with a technical background.

In the professional practice of ICTs, there are a variety of profiles, both university graduate and vocational training and others. Therefore, the professional profile at the start of the programme will be evaluated by the applicant’s curriculum vitae.
