Why this programme?
This postgraduate course covers various aspects of business management in the public works sector. It consists of an initial corpus that standardises the knowledge of the subject of students coming from different training areas. With this objective in mind, they cover subjects in the legal, accounting, human resources and marketing and communication fields. At the same time, the activities of companies involved in public works are examined in detail, including consultancies, technical support services and construction companies.

As regards legal aspects, the course covers trade law (the Law on public limited companies, the law on limited liability companies, the Code of Commerce), labour law (workers' statute, labour and sector and company employment agreements, etc.). and tax law (general tax laws, Corporate Tax, VAT, personal income tax).
With regard to accounting, the course starts with the concepts of general accounting (accounting statements, preparation of balance sheets, ratios, etc.) and provides an introduction to analytical accounting (cost and benefit centres).
The areas of human resources and marketing focus on the specific problems involved in recruiting staff faced by companies in the sector.

The recruitment mechanisms used by construction companies and consultancies (in the fields of transport, logistics, energy, environmental engineering and urban planning) are also studied.
The combination of knowledge of business and the training in standardisation enables students to define companies' budgets, their strategic plans, etc.
