Why this course of continuing education?
Managing and directing projects efficiently has become a necessary tool when executing any kind of project. Currently, all SMEs, and all companies in general, regardless of their size and their sector of activity (ICT, industrial, pharmaceutical, construction, etc.), undertake IT projects within their organisation. Oftentimes, these companies do not have enough knowledge of the best tools and methodologies that allow them to successfully bring to fruition the projects they are in charge of or participate in.

There is a need of professionals who know all the stages and the lifecycle of an IT project, and who know at all times how to apply the methodologies and best practices today (both the most agile ones, like Scrum, and the more traditional ones, like PMBOK, impacting concepts like the Lean Startup, Six Sigma, etc.), being able to properly define and carry out projects of all kinds and dimensions.

This specific training in the field of direction and project management encompasses the concepts and techniques of IT project management and the field of technology in general. Thus, it works on different methodologies and best practices in the market, from agile methodologies to the more traditional ones, such as PMBOK, Scrum, Metode3, etc.

Students will be prepared to be able to correctly apply a project management methodology, which allows the company to save resources and generate better quality products or services, while at the same time leading to higher income.

This lifelong learning course in IT Direction and Project Management includes specific classes to prepare students for the Professional Project Management Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI-PMP) following the best practices of PMBOK. The essential objective is to help students understand the purpose of this certification and how to obtain it.
  • To introduce the concepts of project and project management used in PM (Project Management), PMBOK, the PMI (Project Management Institute), as well as agile methodologies in Scrum.
  • To learn about the entire life cycle of an IT project in order to apply it, and for it to be successful by choosing the best way to carry it out (through agile methods, such as Scrum, or other models or best practices, such as PMBOK or hybrids which are on the market).
  • To plan a kind of project management that fits the reality, bearing in mind all the variables (risk management, quality management, testing management, etc.) which come into play within the framework of project execution.
  • To manage projects bearing in mind both technology and people in the quest for the best working methodologies to minimise resistance to change among the participants in the project.
  • To show the tools and techniques used the most often to choose, plan, execute, track, control and finally close the project.
  • To consolidate the knowledge acquired through the practical execution of real cases of IT projects and projects involving the new technologies.
  • To work in teams and acquire the capacity to be able to manage a project.
Who is it for?
  • Project leaders or staff who take part in executing a project, who need a more global vision and knowledge of how to provide solutions to the problems in project management.
  • Consultants, analysts, analyst-programmers, technicians, administrators and personnel who have to manage or participate in IT projects or projects in the field of technology.
  • Anyone in general who wants to gain training in the management and administration of IT projects.
