Start   >  COVID-19 frequently asked questions to study at the UPC School

The purpose of these FAQs is to answer the most common questions our students have asked about the 2021-22 academic year in relation to the health emergency caused by Covid-19. We advise you to get in touch with our team directly if you have any doubts, or need any clarifications or additional information. You can contact us by telephoning (34) 93 112 08 05 or e-mailing info.upcschool@talent.upc.edu.

Are any changes planned to the start dates of the programmes in the 2021-22 academic year as a result of the Covid-19 crisis?
We have no plans to change the start dates of our programmes. You can find all the updated information on the UPC School website (https://talent.upc.edu).
Has the admission process changed during this period?
The admission process has not changed. Our admission process is 100% online. You will be able to complete this process electronically wherever you are. Our team is continuing to work on it, and we promise to give you an initial answer within 2 working days.
What happens if my visa is issued late or if it is denied?
If the programme you have registered for cannot be taught online, or your visa arrives late or it is denied because of a health emergency or due to an order from the authorities, you will have two alternatives: you can apply for a refund of the full amount paid less than € 300, due to administrative expenses; or we can reserve your registration for the next programme of the course in the 2022-23 academic year. In any case, it must be justified with the appropriate supporting documentation.
It is possible to do the training online and only attend the visits and/or exams when necessary?
Teaching will take place in the format published on the website, except when it must be carried out in a manner other than that defined in the programme due to instructions from the health authorities under exceptional and temporary circumstances. We have also prepared for teaching online or in blended learning formats.
Has the UPC School adapted to comply with social distancing measures?
Yes, all the facilities of the UPC and the UPC School have been adapted to comply with social distancing and other health measures established following the declaration of the state of alert in March 2020.
What will the UPC School do if there is a fresh outbreak of Covid-19 while I am studying my face-to-face or blended learning programme?
Ever since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, the UPC School has shown its ability to adapt by transforming 94% of its programmes into online mode. So if the circumstances arise, our teaching staff is ready, and has the tools and support resources to continue teaching the programme on a virtual basis, while maintaining the commitment to high quality training at the UPC.
I am unemployed or my financial situation has been seriously affected by Covid-19. Can the UPC School help me in any way?
We are aware of the impact that the current health crisis will have on our future students. That is why the UPC School has expanded the overall budget line, and has added new allocation criteria to accommodate more applications, and has also improved the individual endowment (€ 50 for each credit registered for) in its Employment Help grants. Get in touch with us and we will examine your case.
Will the UPC School offer facility for payment of the registration fee?
The UPC School has opened the registration period for training programmes that begin in the next academic year. We have made the methods of payment more flexible. Get in touch with us and we will examine your case. You can contact us by telephoning (34) 93 112 08 05 or e-mailing info.upcschool@talent.upc.edu.
If there is no improvement in the Covid-19 crisis by the scheduled start date of my programme and face-to-face classes cannot start, can I ask for a refund or a discount on the registration fee?
If face-to-face classes cannot start at the beginning of the programme you have registered for due to public health reasons, consideration will be given to postponing the start date or teaching the programme online. Since teaching a programme in online format has the same safeguards of academic quality as a programme taught face-to-face mode, neither a reduction nor a refund of the registration fee are anticipated.
Will there be a capacity limit in the classrooms?
Both the UPC classrooms and the UPC School facilities are prepared for compliance with the social distancing and other healthcare measures established since the declaration of the state of alert in March 2020.
What happens to the € 110 admission fee if finally I can't travel to Barcelona?
If the programme you have registered for cannot be taught online, and borders are closed or flights are cancelled due to a health emergency or at the request of the authorities, you can request a refund of your admission fee, or it can be saved towards the next edition of the programme.
I'm registered on a blended learning programme and I can't travel to Barcelona for reasons related to COVID-19 when the second face-to-face part begins. What can I do?
If the programme can be carried out online, you can do it in that mode. Otherwise, if the course cannot be carried out online, we can carry over your registration for the next edition of the programme, in the 2022-2023 academic year.
