Currently, the architecture sector should be fully conscious of environmental needs and respond with designs that reflect this conscious approach to sustainable human environments. With this approach in mind, energy is a very important issue, not only with respect to the use of natural energy sources, but also in the integration of these concepts into buildings and urban developments. This is really about recovering the positive technical and aesthetic aspects of integrating natural energy components into the architecture of buildings and the environment.

Aims

  • To train natural environment control specialists in architecture, with knowledge of how to use the techniques of lighting, climatology and acoustics usable with natural energy sources.
  • To offer the skills needed to work on design and evaluation of buildings and systems, when consulting for these issues or as a function of administrative control.
  • To train professionals to be able to select the best energy systems for specific situations involving buildings and their environments, to design the general characteristics of these systems and to formally and technically integrate them into a comprehensive concept of an architectural project.

Medio Ambiente Urbano: Materia, Energia e Información
15 ECTS. 130 teaching hours.
Control Energético en la Arquitectura
10 ECTS. 75 teaching hours.
The incidence of the sun and quantity of energy available in each case must be tools for make decisions at urban or architectonical level. In this module the student begins the use of different software for simulation, calculations and analysis of solar radiation applied at the architecture. Another energy form, less studied but not less important for users is the acoustic, either for interior spaces or for urban scale. In this module user-friendly software is used for simulations application on spaces in order to assess and analyze the various proposals with which an architect works in usual situations. Theoretical concepts and the practices carried out prepare students to use the most appropriate tools in their future practice.

10 ECTS. 70 teaching hours.
Integración de Energías Renovables en la Arquitectura
15 ECTS. 105 teaching hours.

10 ECTS. 100 teaching hours.
The student must develop an individual unpublished work, where he must make a synthesis of the knowledge and skills acquired and it will be assessed in an oral presentation evaluated by a jury.

Special master's degree issued by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Issued pursuant to art. 34.1 of Organic Law 4/2007 of 12 April, amending Organic Law 6/2001 of 21 December, concerning Universities. To obtain it, is necessary to have an official university qualification. Otherwise, the student will receive a certificate of completion of the programme issued by the Fundació Politècnica de Catalunya.
