UPC School
This lifelong learning course is also part of the training track for the master's degree Bodyworks and Automotive Materials.

In this course students receive a wide overview of methods, tools and requirements for the optimal selection of materials and manufacturing processes used for the development of bodywork components and parts.


After completing this course, students will be able to:

1. Know the set of materials used to manufacture the different parts and components.
2. Select the proper materials for the development of specific bodywork components and parts.
3. Know the latest bodywork manufacturing processes, their characteristics and limitations.

Who is it for

Graduate students in Automotive, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Product Design or equivalent.
Working professionals or experienced in the automotive industry.

    Doctor en Ingeniería de Proyectos por la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Licenciado en Química por la Universitat de Barcelona, especializado en Ciencia de Materiales. Colaborador de la Cátedra SEAT/UPC del 2007 al 2012. Profesor asociado en el Departamento de Ingeniería de Proyectos y Construcción de la UPC.

    Ingeniero técnico de Diseño industrial y de productos por Universidad de Málaga. Ingeniero Industrial por la Universidad de Huelva. Application Engineer en AutoForm Engineering GmbH.
  • Arroyo Ponce, Juan
    Ingeniero técnico industrial en mecánica y Posgrado CARMAT. Carrocería y Materiales de Automoción por la UPC. Key user de simulación de estampación en procesos prensas y miembro de los gremios de simulación y standard de métodos del consorcio VW. Actualmente, es responsable de métodos plan y simulación del grupo de puertas en procesos prensas y chapistería en SEAT.
  • Bellorín Segovia, Alejandro
    Alexandro holds a degree from the Central University of Venezuela in Chemical Engineering, and a master degree from the Polytechnic University of Catalunya in "Automotive Manufacturing & Business Engineering". Nowadays, he is responsible for the validation and control of different components of the vehicle at SEAT.

  • Castellon Oitaben, Oscar
    Oscar holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). He has more than 10 years of experience in car body painting processes. At present, Oscar is in charge of Paint Engineering Department at SEAT.
  • García Saura, Maria Teresa
    Licenciada en Geografía e Historia por la Universitat de Barcelona (UB). Técnica Especialista de Riesgos Laborales por la UB. Técnica de los posgrados CARMAT. Carrocería y Materiales de Automoción y ELTICA. Electricidad y Electrónica del Automóvil. Responsable del programa CATIA v5 en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales de Barcelona. Administración y control de los cursos y posgrados realizados por la Cátedra SEAT/UPC, Fundació Politècnica de Catalunya y la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales de Barcelona, en el Departamento de Ingeniería de Proyectos y Construcción de la UPC.
  • Gómez i Canadell, Romà
    Ingeniero técnico industrial en electrónica por la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Posgrado en Compatibilidad Electromagnética por la UPC. Responsable de Proyectos de I+D Electrónica en SERRA SOLDADURA, S.A. Investigador de la soldadura al arco y por resistencia. Creador del control adaptativo WISE de aseguramiento de la calidad de la soldadura. Patente del sistema OptimalSystem sobre la optimización automática de parámetros de soldadura por resistencia.
  • Sánchez Castillo, Juan Antonio
    Graduate in mechanical Engineering at EUETIB (UPC). Bachelor degree in mechanical Engineering at ETSEIB (UPC). Master in product design and creation at UPC. He comes from SEAT's apprentice school. He works at SEAT's Technical Center since 1988 at different areas of interiors experimentation as head of service at outdoor experimentation, interiors experimentation and actually at project department as head of service of interior door panels development at SEAT's Technical Center.
  • Santos Pinto, Soledad
    Llicenciada en Química per la Universitat de Barcelona i Enginyera de Materials per la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya/Universitat de Barcelona. Actualment, és responsable del servei d'Acabats Interns i Elastòmers de Tecnologia de Materials en SEAT.
  • Villacampa Perez, Maria del Mar
    Licenciada en Ciencias Químicas por la Universidad de Barcelona. Profesora en el Máster de Diseño Sostenible del Instituto Europeo de Diseño (IED). Ha trabajado dentro del ámbito de la investigación en el Instituto de Investigaciones Químicas y Ambientales de Barcelona para el International Wool Secretariat (IWS), actualmente The Woolmark Company. En la actualidad, es responsable de Medio Ambiente de Producto en el Centro Técnico de SEAT.

Virtual Campus
The students on this Lifelong learning course will have access to the My_Tech_Space virtual campus, an effective work and communication platform for students, lecturers and course directors and coordinators. My_Tech_Space allows students to find background material for their classes, to work in teams, ask their lecturers questions, consult their marks, etc.
Employment service
Students can access job offers in their field of specialisation on the My_Tech_Space virtual campus. Applications made from this site will be treated confidentially. Hundreds of offers appear annually of the UPC School of Professional & Executive Development Employment service .The offers range from formal contracts to work placement agreements.
