UPC School
This lifelong learning course is also part of the training track for the master's degree Bodyworks and Automotive Materials.

The aim of the course is to offer a comprehensive overview of the main bodywork structural components. The course details the economic, legal and technical requirements to be considered during the design, development, validation and manufacturing processes.

Aims

Students who pass this course will be able to:
- Know the main factors for body structure development
- Know the main measures to protect the structure.
- Know the vehicle's structure elements.

Who is it for?

Graduate students in Automotive, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Product Design or equivalent. Working professionals or experienced in the automotive industry.

Academic management

  • Carod de Arriba, Xavier
    Doctor en Ingeniería de Proyectos por la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Licenciado en Química por la Universitat de Barcelona, especializado en Ciencia de Materiales. Colaborador de la Cátedra SEAT/UPC del 2007 al 2012. Profesor asociado en el Departamento de Ingeniería de Proyectos y Construcción de la UPC.

Teaching staff

  • Amer Montesinos, Salvador
    Salvador holds a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineer from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He has studied multiple specialized fatigue courses, such as "Fatigue of materials and structures", "Selection of materials in mechanical Project" or "Simulation and Analysis of stresses in mechanical components". Since 1987, he has been working as Fatigue Engineer in SEAT. Salvador has international working experience: 2 years as engineer in Acoustics department, and 8 months as Engineer in Audi, also in the Fatigue Laboratory. Currently, he is Head of Fatiga y Extensometría Laboratory a the Technical Center of SEAT.
  • Blanch Tyroller, Carolina
    Desde noviembre de 2011 es la coordinadora del posgrado Electricidad y Electrónica del Automóvil. ELTICA de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Responsable de la coordinación y gestión del programa de becarios con SEAT, S.A.
  • Casas Arenas, Joan
    Ingeniero técnico en Telecomunicaciones por la Universidad Ramón Llull (La Salle Bonanova). Especialidad Imagen y sonido. Experto Universitario en Teoría y Aplicación práctica del método de los elementos finitos y simulación por la UNED y Máster de ingeniería y gestión industrial del automóvil por la UPC. Actualmente, es responsable de la Aeroacústica de todos los modelos de SEAT en el departamento de Vehículo Completo del Centro Técnico de SEAT.
  • Chaves Miguel, Mario
    Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and a Postgraduate Degree in Bodyworks and Automotive Materials- CARMAT. At present, he is leader of the Car body and Corrosion Team at the Technical Centre of SEAT.
  • Geue, Michael
    Responsible at Testing and Q-Building department at SEAT's Tecnichal Center.
  • Viguer Gomez, Carlos
    Responsible for Bumper at the Technical Centre of SEAT

Lifelong learning diploma issued by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Issued pursuant to art. 34.1 of Organic Law 4/2007 of 12 April, amending Organic Law 6/2001 of 21 December, concerning Universities. To obtain this degree it is necessary to have an official. Otherwise, the Fundació Politècnica de Catalunya will only award them a a certificate of completion.

Virtual Campus
The students on this Lifelong learning course will have access to the My_Tech_Space virtual campus, an effective work and communication platform for students, lecturers and course directors and coordinators. My_Tech_Space allows students to find background material for their classes, to work in teams, ask their lecturers questions, consult their marks, etc.
