Critique is an important means of reflection on the products of creative processes, it trains the ability of critical thinking and transparent communication. In this course, students will be asked to choose a contemporary landscape project and write an illustrated project critique. On the basis of literature studies, lectures, field studies, drawing and writing exercises, they learn to construct a coherent and well-founded critique.Insertado desde

Critique writing will inspire them to challenge our their opinions, to explore what is meant by a design, to explain how it should be understood, to propose potential comparisons, to show by what criteria it could be evaluated and to indicate the larger lessons one can take from this evaluation.

This subject will develop a reflection on the landscape projection mechanisms, starting from the analysis of good European practices based on selected and award-winning projects from the Biennial International of Landscape Architecture and the books of Landscape Architecture Europe (LAE)

  • Bellmunt Chiva, Jordi
    Architect by the School of Architecture of Barcelona - ETSAB architect in 1980, since 1982 is professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (UPC). Since 1987 is Professor of the Master of Landscape Architecture (UPC) and since 2000 is its director. From 2000 to 2006, is director of the Higher Certificate in Landscape of the UPC. It is part of the scientific committee of the Paesaggio Architettura journals, Paisea, PaiseaDos, Paysage, Kore and Paisajismo. He is a member of the scientific committee of EURAU'08 (European Congress of Architectural and Urban Research), 'Paisajes 08' and Expopaisaje 2014. Organizes the six European Landscape Biennials of Barcelona. Is a visiting Professor at various university campuses worldwide. He works as an architect and landscape designer. Exhibits and publishes his work in various specialized media and books and articles. He has won major awards throughout his career.

    Arquitecta por la ETSAB, graduada superior en Arquitectura del Paisaje (UPC) y Máster en Urbanismo (UPC). Guardonada con varias becas (Fundació Mies van der Rohe, 2001; Fundació Caixa d'Arquitectes, 2002; ha trabajado para Ateliers Jean Nouvel (París), el CRPP y la Oficinal del Paisaje del COAC. Des de 2003 compagina su actividad docente e investigadora con su propio estudio profesional con sede en Barcelona dedicado al urbanismo, a la arquitectura y la arquitectura del paisaje. Actualmente enseña diseño urbano y paisajismo en el taller del Espacio Público del Máster en Arquitectura del Paisaje (FPC). Ex-secretária general de la IFLA-EU (2009-2014), directora del grupo de trabajo ECLAS-IFLA EU y coordinadora y miembro del comité ejecutivo de la 4a-8a Biennal de Arquitectura del Paisaje de Barcelona

Nominated for the Mies v. Rohe Award. Former Dean of the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSA, UPC). Former professor at TU Berlin. Former member of the jury for the Final Project Ticino School. Author of Coming from the South (Actar) and other books.

  • Ruisánchez Capelastegui, Manuel
    Member of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya since 1982, Professor of Architecture and Landscape in the ETSAV (1982-1992), Professor of Urban Planning at ETSAB since 1992 and at the Master of Landscape since 1991. He has been a visiting professor at Washington University in Saint Louis (1994 and 1996) and at Harvard University (2000). Since 2007 is a Professor of the Laboratory of Landscape at IUAV, Facoltà of Architecture of Venice. Architect of the Project Unit, Metropolitan Corporation of Barcelona (1985-1989), and co-founder of Ruisánchez-Vendrell 1988. In 1997 he founded Ruisánchez Architects. From the beginning of his career he has won numerous competitions in architecture, urban planning and landscape. His work has won several awards as the FAD of Architecture, the Premi Catalunya Construcció 2005 or Premi d'Habitatge Social de Catalunya.

Degree
Lifelong learning diploma issued by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Issued pursuant to art. 34.1 of Organic Law 4/2007 of 12 April, amending Organic Law 6/2001 of 21 December, concerning Universities. To obtain this degree it is necessary to have an official or recognized university degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree or diploma. Otherwise, the Fundació Politècnica de Catalunya will only award them a a certificate of completion.

The students on this Lifelong learning course will have access to the My_Tech_Space virtual campus, an effective work and communication platform for students, lecturers and course directors and coordinators.
