Plastic and Elastomer Component Design for Industrial Equipment

Postgraduate course. Face-to-face.

UPC School
This postgraduate course is also part of the training track for the master's degree Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Equipment.

Designing industrial machines and equipment in this industry involves producing polymers, elastomers and compound materials that must comply with a wide variety of requirements like shape, aspect, environmental behaviour, production volume according to cost, etc.

Nowadays the designer has a growing diversity of compliant materials and processes at their disposition. Special attention is given to the processes that allow for a high degree of versatility when manufacturing in small production runs.

The purpose of this postgraduate course is to provide the knowledge and tools needed to make the best decisions in terms of the functions, shapes, materials and processes based on the requirements of each polymer, elastomer or compound material they wish to design and implement these decisions during this course by doing component design exercises.

  • To get a better understanding of materials and processes.

  • Learn about the newest trends and information related to new materials and processes.

  • To learn how to selection methodologies for binomial processes-materials.

  • Evaluate the costs associated with manufacturing components (materials, processes, implements, production series¿).
  • Who is it for?

  • Industrial Engineers with advanced or associates degrees.

  • Professionals that work on product and industrial equipment design.

  • Degree holders in specialised technical areas that want to broaden their knowledge.
