Academic management

  • Roca Cladera, Josep
    A Doctor in Architecture, and Professor at the UPC. Director of the Land Policy and Valuations Centre at the UPC. He is director of the Doctorate Course in Urban and Architectural Management and Valuation, a unique programme in Spain as it combines the economic, legal, social and environmental processes that underlie the planning of the city and the territory. He is the author of numerous articles related to the real estate economy, the analysis of territorial structures and the city. His most well-known books focus on the theoretical analysis of the formation of land value and on the practical application of valuation methods. Dr Roca is a national and international benchmark in the valuations field, and especially those related to urban management processes. He has been a Spanish pioneer in teaching valuations at the postgraduate level since the appearance of master's degree courses in the early 1980s.
  • Arellano Ramos, Blanca Esmaragda
    Architect. Holds a Master's degree in Urban Management and Valuation from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Associate lecturer at the Department of Architectural Technology of the ETSAB, researcher at the Land Policy and Valuations Centre at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and a member of the Quality of Urban Life and Sustainability research group. She has conducted and directed research in the areas of urban planning, land and housing policy, analysis of urban growth processes: Sprawl vs. Compact City, sustainable urbanism, sustainable mobility, public space, urban regeneration, citizen culture, capital gains and city management models. She has held various positions in the public sector in the areas of housing, land, urban development and ecology, as well as territorial and urban planning.

    Architect at SIMBIM, an innovative architecture and construction consultancy company with full integration of BIM (Building Information Modeling), based in Barcelona.

  • Barceló Bugeda, Jaume
    Doctorate in Physical Sciences from the UAB. Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics of the UPC. Scientific Director of the ICT and Mobility area at CENIT (Transport Innovation Centre).
  • Batalla Teruel, Carles
    Ingeniero técnico de Telecomunicación e ingeniero superior en Electrónica por la Universitat Ramon Llull. Actualmente es customer solutions architect del sector público catalán y balear en la oficina comercial de Cisco Systems de Barcelona.
  • Giffinger, Rudolf
    Doctor of Geography. Lecturer in the Department of Territorial Planning, Infrastructure and Environmental Planning of the Technological University of Vienna, TUVIEN. Expert in research on Smart Cities, and an analyst of urban and regional development at the Regional Science Center, SRF.
  • Marco Párraga, Daniel
    A graduate in Electronic Engineering from the UPC and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from ESADE. He is currently director of the SmartCatalonia strategy for the Government of Catalonia, where he has held other positions in the last 11 years, including head of the ICT Industrial Promotion programmes of the Secretariat for Telecommunications, Cybersecurity and Digital Society. He previously worked in the private sector, holding various positions in the strategic consultancy field in the Information and Communication Technologies sector, and in research and development projects.
  • Martínez Gil, Eduardo
    Politólogo por la Universidad Pompeu Fabra y Técnico Superior de Sistemas Informáticos y Redes. Inicia su carrera profesional en ámbitos muy ligados a la informática hasta 2009. A partir de este momento, cambia su trayectoria hacia temes vincualdos a la Administración Pública, ha trabajado, entre otros, para el Consejo de la Unión Europea o para la Universidad Pompeu Fabra, hasta que ha logrado combinar su dos disciplinas en el Departamento de Smart Cities como Consultor de Administraciones Públicas en Indra. En Indra ha desarrollado diversas funciones, siempre relacionadas con la práctica global de Smart Cities, desde el diseño de propuestas y su coordinación en proyectos de I+D Nacionales y Europeos, al desarrollo de soluciones funcionales y de negocio. Como formador también ha colaborado en el máster de Urbanismo y Smart Cities de la UPC, además de otras colaboraciones con la UB y la UEM, entre otras. Es miembro fundador de un proyecto europeo del "Lifelong Learning Programme".
  • Puig i Boix, Josep
    Doctor in industrial engineering, specialising in energy techniques, and a graduate in Environmental Engineering, Ecology and Environmental Management. Director of Ecoserveis. The winner of the "Poul laCour" Prize at the European Conference on Wind Energy 2001, and the 2004 European Solar Prize in the Solar Architecture category.

    Industrial, Energy and Information Technology Engineer, and a graduate in Management (ESADE). The Director of Basic Data at the Municipal Information Technology Institute. Barcelona City Council.
