The Open Talent session on "Light: plastic material" with Antón Amann, an architect, lighting designer and the founder of the studio Architectural Lighting Solutions, will take place in the Roca Barcelona Gallery (c/Joan Güell 211, Barcelona) at 7:30 pm on Thursday 28 March, 2015.
In this lecture, Amann will explain how light is more than a tool for adding value to space. In conjunction with architecture, the discipline it serves, light becomes a material in its own right: a material which when subjected to the laws of plastic, has immense transforming power over spaces. In short, lighting is an exercise of art, design, architecture and sculpting material - PLASTIC MATERIAL.
The speaker
Antón Amann qualified as an architect at the University of Navarre. His expertise in the architecture of light has led him to carry out numerous projects with renowned Spanish and international architects and designers (Francisco Mangado, Rafael de la Hoz, Mansilla+Tuñón, Juan Herreros, Nieto&Sobejano, Zaha Hadid, Philippe Starck, etc.). He is the founder and director of Architectural Lighting Solutions, a consultancy firm that has been involved in unique projects such as Athletic Bilbao's new stadium, Expo Zaragoza 2009 and the lighting for the Manzanares metropolitan park in Madrid. His work has also been linked to teaching, especially at the School of Architecture of the University of Navarre, where he has been a lecturer in the projects department since 1989, directing the subject of Design Applications, which covers research into architectural lighting design. He is a member of the Spanish Lighting Committee and the IALD (International Association of Lighting Design).
