Conference "The Appraisal Institute & Uniform Professional Standards (USPAP)"

The lecture on "The Appraisal Institute & Uniform Professional Standards (USPAP)", by Richard Lee Borges II, partner and member of the board of directors of the Appraisal Institute, the world's leading institution in real estate evaluations will take place online at 4 pm in Monday 15 June as part of the programme of the European Master in Real Estate Valuations Online.

The Appraisal Institute (AI) is the leading international institution in the certification of real estate appraisers and valuers. In this lecture, Richard Lee Borges II, president of the Appraisal Institute (Al) in 2013, will be discussing the purpose and tasks of the institution, in both the USA and internationally. In addition, in the lecture he will explain the workings of the professional organization of appraisers in North America and the essential aspects and standards of professional practice, which are covered in the "Uniform Standard of Professional Appraisal Practice”.

This lecture will enable Spanish and Latin American appraisers to broaden the prospects of their professional practice beyond their usual fields in their countries of origin. We are dealing with a new scenario in which foreign investors are seeking advisers who know about the local markets where they want to invest, as well as the added value of providing knowledge of international standards.

THE SPEAKER

Richard Lee Borges II is a certified appraiser and real estate broker (MAI, SRA, GRS-AI, AI-RRS, AACI (Hon.), GRI). He was president of the Appraisal Institute in 2013 and is a member of the institution's board of directors, and is also a partner. He is a member of the Indiana Association of Realtors and the Crossroads Association of Realtors.

He is a certified lecturer in "Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice" and has contributed to several books and manuals on appraisals, as well as teaching at Ivy Tech State College.

He is a partner at Borges Borges & Real Estate Advisors. His business area focuses on residential, commercial and agricultural appraisals and valuations of intangible assets, consulting, mediation, brokerage, real estate development and studies. He created Cross-Continent Real Estate Mediation and Arbitration to assist parties in resolving disputes related to appraisal. His clients include companies such as Wal-Mart, financial institutions such as JP Morgan and the US Government (the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development), among others.
