Date: 02-12-2014
Timetable: 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Location: Tech Talent Center (Badajoz, 73. Barcelona)

The Open Talent session "How to transform a traditional automotive company with the Lean model", involving an explanation of how the company Hutchinson evolved as a result of implementing a Lean management model, will take place at the Tech Talent Center (c/Badajoz, 73, Barcelona), on Tuesday 2 December 2014 at 7 pm.

Hutchinson Palamós is a company specializing in the manufacture of brake pipes and piping for the transmission of fluids for the automotive industry. In a situation in which the company's clients' needs are changing, with a widespread fall in prices and fierce competition, the company was forced to consider a strategic change.

This plan involved a very strong sales strategy and offsetting price reductions with a reengineering of all the plant processes. The company began transforming its factory by incorporating new management tools, implementing leadership groups in small areas in the plant, creating a new system to reduce stocks and applying new tools for motivation, among other projects.

The strategic plan also reinforced the importance of its workers: everyone had to share the company's vision for the medium and long term and understand their essential role in it; this challenge was even more difficult considering that the company was engaged in a process of downsizing at the time.

Carles Rocafort, the organization's Director of Engineering, and Joan Suñer, the Lean coordinator, will be explaining how after four years of implementing and monitoring True North (the strategic plan), the company has improved rates of production, thanks to indicators that are more visual and better defined, and higher levels of performance and motivation among its workforce.
