Planificación Territorial y Urbana
10 ECTS. 60 teaching hours.
Once the theoretical and conceptual basics that guide development have been established, this module will turn to analysing the evolution of territorial and urban issues generated as a result of the industrial revolution and the successive instruments and planning techniques that have appeared to deal with these issues.
Analysis of urban structures and the elements of territorial configuration, as well as the study of current planning tools (legislation, plans, organising techniques territorial systems, mobility management, participation, etc.) that make up the core of this programme along with studies into new concepts and experiences from territorial planning.
This programme finishes with a module dedicated to government involvement and territorial organisation and will include the current debate over the territorial organisation of Catalonia, as well as a workshop about the development of case studies.
Gestión, Gobernanza y Políticas Urbanas
5 ECTS. 30 teaching hours.
This module analyses the different land and housing policy models, from their historical appearance to the stated objectives when they were being created. This class will deal with the relationship between land use policy and the real estate market, emphasising factors that, from an urban planning point of view, can influence the normalisation of the land market. As well, this class will draw on the study of different land and housing policies, focusing on critical analysis of the predominant policies: land market liberalisation, interventionism, etc. It is from this perspective that the main elements of urban policy will be developed in the class (analysis of land and housing supply and demand, market accessibility, financing, fiscal policy, etc.). As well, it will include analysis of the current basic management tools, such as expropriation, obtaining land for free as a result of private management, land set aside for public housing, public land equities, market intervention, renting policies, etc.
Geographic Information Systems
5 ECTS. 30 teaching hours.
Basic knowledge on geographic information systems, the structure of graphic and alphanumeric data, their components and working procedures. Relevant concepts on urban and territorial structure, working criteria and procedures, fundamentally to visualize them in a synthetic way on a municipal level, using maps. Defining processes to explore and show different factors that converge in an environment, spatial relations and an integrating approach to many components yielding a qualitative improvement allowing to combine elements and make a synthesis of contents exploring urban information bases in a digital format and using computer applications based on conventional GISs Desktop aping (PC).
