UPC School
This lifelong learning course is also part of the training track for the master's degree Bodyworks and Automotive Materials.

This course focus on tests and systems used to ensure car safety in front of various types of impact, both from structural point of view as occupant restraint. Furthermore, specific tests used on various elements or components, as seats or vehicle anchorage systems, are studied. Finally, legal requirements needed to carry out the development of passive safety systems and automobile in general are presented.

Who is it for?

Graduate students in Automotive, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Product Design or equivalent. Working professionals or experienced in the automotive industry.

  • Carod de Arriba, Xavier
    Doctor en Ingeniería de Proyectos por la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Licenciado en Química por la Universitat de Barcelona, especializado en Ciencia de Materiales. Colaborador de la Cátedra SEAT/UPC del 2007 al 2012. Profesor asociado en el Departamento de Ingeniería de Proyectos y Construcción de la UPC.

    Ingeniero Superior Industrial por la Universidad de Sevilla. Máster en Ingeniería de Automóviles de Competición en la Universidad de Oxford Brookes. Actualmente, es responsable del área de Seguridad Activa y Detección de Choque en el Centro Técnico de Seat.
  • Arregui Dalmases, Carlos
    Ph.D in biomedical engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Master in automotive Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering and postgraduate in biomechanics by the University of Barcelona. Currently lecturer professor at the Universitat politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and visiting assistant professor at the University of Virginia at the Center for Applied Biomechanics.
  • Blanch Tyroller, Carolina
    Desde noviembre de 2011 es la coordinadora del posgrado Electricidad y Electrónica del Automóvil. ELTICA de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Responsable de la coordinación y gestión del programa de becarios con SEAT, S.A.
  • Delgado Saiz, Javier
    Licenciado en Ciencias Química por la universidad de Burgos y Posgrado en CARMAT. Carrocería y Materiales de Automoción de la Universidad Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC). Actualmente, es responsable del desarrollo de airbags y cinturones en el departamento de Seguridad en el Automóvil del Centro Técnico de SEAT.
  • Fernández Rodríguez, Diego
    Ingeniero superior industrial por la Universidad Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), con especialidad en Automoción. Ingeniero de desarrollo de protección de peatones, con experiencia en ensayos de baja velocidad y sistema de retención infantil. Actualmente, coordinador del proyecto SEAT Tarraco en el departamento de Seguridad en el Vehículo del Centro Técnico de SEAT. Miembro del ACEA EG, Group on Rescue.
  • Martín Milà, Adrià
    Head of Technical Conformity at SEAT,SA.
  • Rodríguez Perdices, Javier
    Javier holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). He is responsible for the development of front and back impact systems, front restraint systems, and seat belts at the Technical Centre of SEAT. Previously, Javier held different responsibilities in passive safety development projects in Audi Q3 and Q5. He has also worked as plastic injection simulation, and structural analysis engineer of automotive parts in Darmstadt (Germany)
  • Suciu, Nicolae
    Ingeniero técnico industrial, especialidad en mecánica por la Universitat Politècnica de Valencia (UPV) y Postgrado en CARMAT. Carrocería y Materiales de Automoción por la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Actualmente, es responsable del desarrollo y ejecución de las pruebas de choque a baja velocidad (RCAR).

    Ingeniero Industrial por la UPC. Head of R&D at JANE S.A.
  • Toyas Ruiz, Alberto
    Head of services of structures of seats, head restraints and safety. Alberto is also teacher of professional training in the schools of Granollers and Monlau

Issued pursuant to art. 34.1 of Organic Law 4/2007 of 12 April, amending Organic Law 6/2001 of 21 December, concerning Universities. To obtain this degree it is necessary to have an official. Otherwise, the Fundació Politècnica de Catalunya will only award them a a certificate of completion.

The students on this Lifelong learning course will have access to the My_Tech_Space virtual campus, an effective work and communication platform for students, lecturers and course directors and coordinators. My_Tech_Space allows students to find background material for their classes, to work in teams, ask their lecturers questions, consult their marks, etc.

Students can access job offers in their field of specialisation on the My_Tech_Space virtual campus. Applications made from this site will be treated confidentially.
