An Open Class is to be held at 06:00 PM on wednesday 21-01-2026 of the Postgraduate Design, Implementation and Operation of Biogas and Biomethane Plants (Face-to-face).
In this session, the current local context of biogas and biomethane will be presented: technological developments, business opportunities, regulatory challenges, and the role of this key energy vector in the energy transition. The new postgraduate programme in Biogas and Biomethane Plants for the valorisation of organic waste will also be introduced, highlighting the skills developed and the professional profiles that can benefit most.
Speakers
- Ivet Ferrer. Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and Deputy Director of the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyeria de Camins, Canals i Ports de Barcelona. Her academic work focuses on resource recovery (bioenergy and bioproducts) from organic waste and wastewater, within the framework of the circular bioeconomy. She has 25 years of experience in research and teaching in the field of biogas.
- Xavier Flotats. PhD in Industrial Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). His academic and professional career has focused on the management of organic waste, particularly the production of biogas from livestock manure, with 45 years of experience in the sector. He received the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bioenergy Cluster of Catalonia and has been an honorary member of AEBIG since 2018.
