Digital health is defined as the convergence of digital transformation with health. The applications with the greatest digital impact include medical devices (wearables), imaging for diagnosis and treatment, laboratories, clinical trials, real world data, robots and telecare, among others.
The health and life sciences ecosystem, which covers pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medtech and digital health, includes more than 1,350 companies and 91 research institutions in Catalonia alone, and employed nearly 60,000 professionals in 2022. The biotech sector accounts for the most companies, with 25% of the total.
