Why this lifelong learning course?
This course in Environmental Assessment of Planning aims to provide, from a multidisciplinary perspective, methodological and instrumental elements for the integration of environmental requirements in urban planning plans, as well as for the effective implementation of the new legislative requirements on the environmental assessment of planning.

Throughout the course, the bases for environmental integration in the various types of plans and their subsequent verification will be developed, both with regard to the strategic assessment of management models and alternatives, and with regard to the consideration of the various environmental vectors, sustainable mobility, etc. At the same time, the content of the various environmental assessment documents will be analyzed and criteria for their preparation will be formulated, with special attention to environmental sustainability reports (ISA) and environmental reports.

All these contents will be exposed through various representative real cases and workshops or tutored practical exercises will be held.

  • Offer a conceptual and legal framework for urban environmental assessment.
  • Deepening the environmental evaluation process, determining the environmental requirements of planning and strategically assessing the management models and alternatives.

  • Evaluate the various planning instruments: partial territorial plans, urban master plans, municipal urban planning plans (POUM) and derived planning.
  • Know the specific aspects in the environmental evaluation of planning (natural heritage, ecological connectivity and territorial fragmentation, water cycle, acoustic quality, sustainable mobility, climate change, etc.).
  • Articulate the evaluation of the environmental impact of projects. Bases and verification.

Degree
Lifelong learning diploma issued by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Issued pursuant to art. 34.1 of Organic Law 4/2007 of 12 April, amending Organic Law 6/2001 of 21 December, concerning Universities. To obtain this degree it is necessary to have an official. Otherwise, the Fundació Politècnica de Catalunya will only award them a a certificate of completion. The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya's lifelong training courses are approved annually by the University's Governing Council. (See details appearing on the certificate).

The teaching methodology of the programme facilitates the student's learning and the achievement of the necessary competences.

A presentation of the conceptual foundations of the content to be taught, promoting interaction with the students to guide them in their learning of the different contents and the development of the established competences.

At least 80% attendance of teaching hours is required.

The students on this lifelong learning course will have access to the My_ Tech_Space virtual campus - an effective platform for work and communication between the course's students, lecturers, directors and coordinators. My_Tech_Space provides the documentation for each training session before it starts, and enables students to work as a team, consult lecturers, check notes, etc.

Associate lecturer at the Department of Architectural Technology of the ETSAB, researcher at the Land Policy and Valuations Centre at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and a member of the Quality of Urban Life and Sustainability research group. She has conducted and directed research in the areas of urban planning, land and housing policy, analysis of urban growth processes: Sprawl vs. Compact City, sustainable urbanism, sustainable mobility, public space, urban regeneration, citizen culture, capital gains and city management models. She has held various positions in the public sector in the areas of housing, land, urban development and ecology, as well as territorial and urban planning.

    PhD in Architecture, and Professor emeritus at the UPC. Director of the Land Policy and Valuations Centre at the UPC. He is director of the Doctorate Course in Urban and Architectural Management and Valuation, a unique programme in Spain as it combines the economic, legal, social and environmental processes that underlie the planning of the city and the territory. He is the author of numerous articles related to the real estate economy, the analysis of territorial structures and the city. His most well-known books focus on the theoretical analysis of the formation of land value and on the practical application of valuation methods. Dr Roca is a national and international benchmark in the valuations field, and especially those related to urban management processes. He has been a Spanish pioneer in teaching valuations at the postgraduate level since the appearance of master's degree courses in the early 1980s.

How to start admission
To start the enrolment process for this programme you must complete and send the form that you will find at the bottom of these lines.

Next you will receive a welcome email detailing the three steps necessary to formalize the enrolment procedure:

1. Complete and confirm your personal details.

2. Validate your curriculum vitae and attach any additional required documentation, whenever this is necessary for admission.

3. Pay €110 in concept of the registration fee for the programme. This fee will be discounted from the total enrolment fee and will only be returned when a student isn't admitted on a programme.

Once the fee has been paid and we have all your documentation, we will assess your candidacy and, if you are admitted on the course, we will send you a letter of acceptance. This document will provide you with all the necessary information to formalize the enrolment process for the programme.
