An Open Class is to be held at 04:00 PM on monday 08-03-2021 on Postgraduate in Seismic Design and Retrofit of Buildings and Bridges (Online).

Performance Based Seismic Design is considered the most realistic method for understanding the seismic behaviour of structures. The most recent design codes implicitly use this concept to create a safe design for new structures and a reliable evaluation of existing ones.

In this Open Class, we will use non-linear analysis models to explain the theory and application of this method. A real example will be used to explain how this method is applied in the seismic evaluation and retrofitting of the structure of an existing factory.

The speaker

Bashar Alfarah. A structural engineer with a master's degree and doctorate in seismic engineering and structural dynamics. Doctor Bashar has more than 12 years of professional and academic experience, in which he has been responsible for or involved in the design and seismic evaluation of several projects located in medium and high level seismic areas.

The session will take place on-line using Google Meet (Hangouts Meet).

Requirements for the on-line connection

*To be able to follow the informational session on-line we recommend that you use either speakers or headphones and have at least a 3MB internet connection.
