En el marco del programa de actividades del 50 aniversario de la UPC, el jueves 27 de mayo, a las 18: 30 h, se realizará de forma virtual la tercera edición del Open Day TIC. En esta sesión, se presentará la oferta formativa de la UPC School en el área TIC y contaremos con la participación del investigador Xavier Costa-Pérez, que nos hablará de las tecnologías emergentes disruptivas que configurarán las redes 6G del futuro.

Programa:

  • 18:30 h - 19.00 h – Bienvenida institucional de la UPC School y presentación del área formativa TIC (Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación). Conoceremos los perfiles más demandados por las empresas y las nuevas tendencias del sector, así como la nueva oferta formativa de este ámbito, que ha sido diseñada para cubrir estas oportunidades emergentes.
  • 19:00 h - 19:45 h – Conferencia: "Tecnologías Disruptivas para los Sistemas 6G del Futuro", a cargo de Xavier Costa-Pérez.

A medida que se va implementando el 5G, los investigadores ya buscan nuevos retos para definir la próxima generación de redes de comunicaciones móviles. En esta charla, haremos un repaso de las tecnologías emergentes disruptivas que se espera que configuren las redes 6G del futuro. Se abordarán temas como la automatización basada en IA para mercados verticales, la desagregación de redes O-RAN, las superficies inteligentes o la detección inalámbrica. Además, se presentarán resultados preliminares sobre estos temas, así como las principales iniciativas conjuntas de la industria y el mundo académico en proyectos a gran escala.

Xavier Costa-Pérez es profesor investigador de ICREA, director científico del centro de investigación i2cat y responsable de I+D en redes 6G los Laboratorios NEC Europa. Su investigación se centra en la transformación digital impulsada por la interrelación entre redes móviles y IA. Su equipo de trabajo produce investigaciones que se difunden regularmente en publicaciones científicas del más alto nivel, genera innovaciones en forma de transferencia de tecnología -que le han valido varios premios-, participa en grandes proyectos de I+D de la Unión Europea y colabora con organismos de estandarización. Es ingeniero y doctor en Telecomunicaciones por la UPC y su tesis doctoral fue galardonada con un premio nacional.
