An Open Class is to be held at 05:30 PM on tuesday 27-07-2021 on Masters in Architectural Structures Engineering (Blended learning) and Masters in Architectural Structures Engineering (Online).

En esta sesión se presentarán ejemplos de diseños de edificios en los que la arquitectura y la ingeniería estructural son inseparables y enfatizados de forma intencional. A través de la lente de varios proyectos completados, como Exchange House, Fishers Island House, Clemson Lee Hall III, el nuevo Museo Glenstone II, Milan House, Denver Union Station o el nuevo Museo de Arte Moderno de Varsovia, se identificarán los desafíos asociados al diseño de estructuras visibles y sin adornos. El tema central será analizar cómo este tipo de trabajo de diseño más innovador se diferencia de la colaboración de diseño estructural más convencional, y la importancia de los detalles bien elaborados, el diseño para la construcción y la participación temprana del contratista.

Esta open class se realizará en inglés.

El ponente

Dmitri Jajich. Director de ingeniería estructural en la oficina de Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) en Londres.

A lo largo de sus 21 años en SOM, ha colaborado con arquitectos y artistas en estructuras de edificios galardonados, tanto museos, espacios culturales, centros de transporte como residencias privadas.

Sus proyectos anteriores incluyen el Fisher's Island Residence en Nueva York, el Museo de Arte de Carolina del Norte, el proyecto Lee Hall III (una adición a la Facultad de Arquitectura, Artes y Humanidades de la Universidad de Clemson), el James Turrell Skyspace en la Universidad de Rice, el proyecto privado museo Glenstone II y el Denver Union Station. Los proyectos recientes incluyen la Torre Karlatornet (Göteborg, Suecia), que será el edificio más alto de Escandinavia, y el Manhattan Loft Gardens en Londres, que presenta una ambiciosa construcción de doble voladizo con muescas.

Jajich es titulado en Ingeniería Civil Estructural por la Universidad de Minnesota (EE. UU.), miembro colegiado activo de la Institución de Ingenieros Estructurales en el Reino Unido e ingeniero civil y estructural con licencia tanto en Illinois como en Nueva York.
