An Open Class is to be held at 06:30 PM on monday 20-12-2021 on Postgraduate in Artificial Intelligence with Deep Learning (Face-to-face) and Postgraduate in Artificial Intelligence with Deep Learning (Online) and Postgraduate in Artificial Intelligence with Deep Learning (Blended learning) and Postgraduate in Artificial Intelligence with Deep Learning (Online).

This is a satellite event of the Deep Learning Barcelona Symposium 2021, that will be hosted on Wednesday and Thursday of that week at UPC Campus Nord.

This hands on session explains how to implement a variational autoencoder (VAE) with deep neural networks. VAEs, like GANs, are a type of generative models capable of producing synthetic and realistic data. In this lab, attendees will learn how to generate hand-written images of digits (0-9) with Pytorch and interpret the behaviour of the model.

Registration is open until Thursday, December 16, as on Friday, December 17, registrants will receive a link with a 1-hour video, which must be viewed before the open class.

This open class will be held in english.

The speaker:

Mariona Carós Roca.
Holder of a master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), specialising in multimedia (DL in vision, speech and text). She worked at Telefónica as a data scientist developing DL models to detect anomalies in networks. She is currently taking her doctorate in LiDAR data modeling for environmental applications at the University of Barcelona (UB), in collaboration with the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC). She is also a member of Young IT Girls, a non-profit organisation encouraging girls to pursue technology studies.

The session will take place on-line using Google Meet.
